Virginia McArdle has been working with marks since the 80’s, those found in landscape, on our bodies, in our memory and the ones left by others.

'‘…….they can act as codes for us to classify and understand our world, to navigate our path and govern our behaviour. '‘

Recently she has returned to work concerning the tragedy of loss and the landscape of insomnia .

The choice of materials and medium she uses are particular for each work and include painting, photography, typography and print . The diverse substrates used often come from her archive of forty years.

Her paintings, prints and fine art bindings have been widely exhibited internationally and are mainly held in private collections.
